About this Case:
On December 17, 1972, the body of Eugene Roderick Miera was discovered at the corner of East Evans Avenue and South Lima Street. Miera had been shot once in the back. He had no identification on him when he was found, he was identified based on his fingerprints. There was one bullet removed at the time of the autopsy. Further examination of this bullet revealed it to be a .38 caliber. It is unclear who owned the gun this bullet came from. The murder weapon was never found. Miera was last seen at 1700 hours at Cowboy Bar on December 17, 1972. This was the last time he was seen alive. An unidentified confidential informant shared with DPD Detectives that he knew who killed Miera. This confidential informant claims that he saw Miera go behind the bar to meet two males. The confidential informant did not specify if he saw them shoot Miera but he believes that they did. This information came from a DPD Detective, he said that this unidentified confidential informant had been proven to be reliable in the past. Miera was a heroin user. His death is thought to be tied to a debt he owed related to heroin. He had also begun to sell drugs on the street. These drugs consisted of bags of sugar that he was trying to pass as heroin. Miera was said to have stashed $20,000 worth of heroin in an unknown location by his aunt. Miera also owed people money.
