On Saturday, November 3, 1949, 38-year-old Harold Murphy Cohen was reported missing to the Denver Police Department. Cohen went by the name of Murphy or "Murph" and was a known gambler and fight referee. He had reportedly attended a ceremonial dinner at Gaetano's in Denver prior to his disappearance. He was last seen wearing a goldish brown cardigan style jacket, a pearl gray sleeveless sweater, a grayish blue pair of trousers, brown shoes and a brown hat. Cohen was found on February 11, 1950 in what was known as Blue Lake. Blue Lake was located south of Highway 58 at Indiana Street and is now on Coors company property.
