About this Case:

On June 21, 1991 at approximately 7:20am, Verla Jean Dodds "Jeanie" was found strangled to death on her bedroom floor, in an apartment attached to the bar she owned and ran. She had owned the bar since 1960 on the 1600 block of East Evans Avenue. It was estimated that she died about six to eight hours before she was found (between 11:30pm and 1:30am). Her employees said they saw her for the last time about 9:30pm. The bar closed at 2am. Nobody from the bar reported hearing any unusual noises come from Dodds' apartment. A night janitor who began work at 2 a.m. also reported seeing no unusual activity. The robbery that led to Dodds' death wasn't the first time she had been robbed.
