Shay Smith was reported missing on July 15, 2006. He was last seen with his father, Gil Smith, at Carter Lake on this day. He may have drowned in Carter Lake, but has never been seen since, nor has his body ever been recovered despite extensive search efforts. Smith allegedly was towing Shay on a "Super Screamer" tube at up to 30 mph with no one adult watching him.
