27 year old Rick Van Duyn was working as a security guard for Evergreen Security on October 19, 1986. He arrived in his marked Evergreen Security car at the Mountain Valley Bank, located in Aspen Park, to make the night deposit. Gunfire was heard and a Ford pickup was seen leaving northbound on Highway 285. Van Duyn had been shot by a .223 caliber weapon.
