On the late afternoon of August 8, 1981, members of the Denver Police Department were called to the 3000 block of Lawrence Street on a report of a dead body. Upon arrival 24 year old Manolito Gutierrez was located in the upstairs portion of the apartment building. He had died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
